About Us

Targeting the Roots of Substance Abuse

The Prevention Project's mission is to improve the health, well-being, and safety of Hall County residents by working collaboratively to reduce youth substance abuse and challenge social norms about substance use.

Our Story

The Grand Island Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (GISAPC) was founded in 2003. The coalition has met regularly since then and strive to build a community wide prevention system that includes like minded organizations, individuals and businesses to address youth substance use issues. We went through a rebranding and are now named the Prevention Project.

We partner with agencies to help change attitudes and raise awareness of the dangers of substance abuse, with a focus on preventing underage alcohol use and binge drinking among youth.

Want to join in on our efforts? Our coalition meetings take place on the 4th Tuesday of each month at the Central Nebraska Council on Alcoholism and Addictions from 12PM to 1:30PM.
